Gas $$

Yesterday me went to the Baltimore office for a introduction and visit ( Hi hello)... and guess what I saw a gas station with gas $1.99 a gallon...
omg omg .. of course I filled the tank but isnt it ridiculous.. :)
I felt so excited !! esp after seeing it for $4.00 :D
for some older folks it bust have been like old days.. but for me it was a amusement

My working experience

Virginia is very beautiful. I'm not comparing it to central PA but still it is beautiful! .. I love Reston.
I worked in quite interesting places you would not imagine... hmm atleast not when u think of USA. As everyone knows (I'm assuming) , my first job out of school was in Lancaster, PA (yeah the Amish county) . I used to live in Lancaster at that time. I loved the place. I liked the pople, they were so laid back.. totally like me. Then my office place moved( along with its 8 employees) to Manheim.. its more Amish.. the non commercial Amish ppl.. I had moved in with Deepthi ( My so far best roomie ... :D my dear friend) and we were living in Hallam pa ( never heard of this town right) its a small town one of my manages would joke tht you can drive past the town in one breadth... It was awsome at first .. I loved Manheim... all you could see around there were farms amd cows, and horses and all the things you get to see in a yash chopra's village scene... i think i ccan also say Indians.. but i'm not sure if Amish ppl are also called as Indians ... when we started work thr it was kind of june i gues and all the corn crops were full ripe.. sometimes when I went to feild work ( not kheti ppl) we would drive along wheat farms too .. it was so much fun to see all this.. unfortunately for me, I did not have much exposure to farmland and villages as a child so it was crazy amusing. we saw the crops being reaped, the cheap farmers markets on the fams literally ... Life was awesome... koi tension nehe ... no work and all play... watching movies and TV shows at work ... then winter came and the whole place was like a fairy land... then spring was okay and boring.. the fun was not fun anymore... but I got bored sometimes... One day my manager called me and said .. beta .. yahan tera kuch nehe hoga.. u should go out and see the real corporate world... so start applying for real jobs ( no I was not fired or laid off .. it was an advise frm a buzurg ) by this time I was already applying for jobs and attending some interviews... and thus I landed in my second job in Harrisburg PA ( yeah PA again) hmm its the capitol of PA... but as the case of all other capitols... this place was ehhh .. well a total laid back again! but the good part was I had to be there only for 6 months before I came to work in Fairfax :D ... When I moved to harrisburg, deepthi Joined me .. so it was awsome time again.. we went to gym, shopping, icecream, .. I went to hershey park, my parents and my sisters visited, lakshmi got her first real job, my sister got engaged, ... it was a beutiful place.. I loved Harrisburg !! .. but work was still the same.. nobody gave me anything to do... all I did was fooling around. Next destination was Fairfax va... well the curent one... the place is amazing again.. new room mates and all but they are sweet. Work wise.. its only 6 ppl in the office so its full masti time... work is on and off.. we are waiting for some good projects so ... dekhte hai ... :)

I liked this weekend.. It was so goood staying at home and sleeping .. watching movies.. aahh after so many weekends.. I had my own Mrinali style weekend!! sleep till late after noon .. eat dosa ,watch movie and sleep again lol!! good thing is that I finished doing my long due laundry lol... me and deepthi managed to sneak out for a drive and had ice cream (:D yummy kada) between our laundry cycle.. my mom called like a hundred times in between (aarrghh) to tell me tht my sister's marriage is finalized ... well I should be excited about it too kada.. !! should plan for India trip

I want to read a book

I have not read a book for a long time now. I don't read regularly but I do read some good books and now that I don't have a television, I am missing reading books... I have NG magazines at home which I have not glanced since 2 months :D.. waste of subscription money kada lol.. hmm i don't want to read articles now.. :( neither news stuff or preaching about how to make money or count chickens.. I need something fun and good to read!
but seriously I need a suggestion for a good book to read from. hmm something I might like!! any suggestions??

2 good months !!

This week I successfully completed my 2 months at Gannett Fleming! and to acknowledge my achievement, I was presented with a tie pin... yeah tie pin!!! so much was I yearning for one .. wow! was totally delighted lol... I was happy that they kept a reminder about it. I guess tht was the only thing my chief had in his desk so he passed it on to me... now I can wear it everyday on my shirt... or I shall wait till wearing a tie becomes a corporate fashion and wear it proud.
Jokes apart I was quite surprised that time flies so quickly... my previous job place had 10 ppl working. and here they have 800 lol...I had so many inhibitions to walk into the new company.. something like a real job now atlast! my 1st place was like assorted home.. we had so much time to kill and very little work!! Kim used to get baked goodies, Brian had his cat playing around for few weeks ( thn he got fired for not showing up at wrk much lol) Jeremy used to talk about his adventures off road, football, baseball, how to kill mosquitoes and how to surf youtube and goof off at our corner of the office!! and all office gossip .. one happy family lol !! seriously I thiink we could come and work in our pajamas (lil exaggeration here) but khakis were considered "formals" there and here u can wear khakhis as business casuals lol...
But I dont miss that place very much now. I like it here.. less commute to wrk is a major factor. Esp with the soaring gas prices who does not want to live a mile away from work?? and with parents visiting this is so convenient and comfortable. Working env is more organized and there is always something to do and learn. I see more ppl around which I like ( none desi so far :( ) ... I dont care if I talk to everyone.. but I like to see many faces around the place ( weird na). So till I move to Virginia ( which is in oct) let me feel home ( huh I mean work) at this place!!

25th Birthday !! OMG

Being 25 is so different :D lol jeez but i don't feel any different. In fact it is more refreshing to know that I am getting older, wiser and smarter!!! ;) . Being tween is "in" now ... teen are looked down upon by tweens kada ... teen are so noisy and irritating ( do I sound matured now??).

I always figured I would be doing something else whn i grow up.. and 25 was my target of growing up!! so according to my analogy I'm grown up now.. kya kare kuch khas diference nehe hai... I am still in the same job of changing jobs.. BTW i'm changing my job.. like I'm moving to Virginia!! to a different company. Hope this one employs me for their profit lol... and I don't just spend my time counting paychecks.

Me goes to knit !!

Hey.. here whats new with me?? hmm.. chk this out
I am knitting and crocheting (not at work) but sometimes at work. Our Office Administrative assistant is a sweet old lady who knits all the time and all around the year is teaching me how to knit and crochet because she wants to teach me i see no reason why she was shunting me to get some yarn and learn to knit :( ... Now for people who think its only for old and silly people.. let me tell you its so much fun to do !! especially whn u discover you can really do it and enjoy doing it lol and all its like any other art, and a very good timepass. After being appreciated for my first scarf ( pink one which I gave to Lakshmi and do not have any clue about what she did with it uh ho) I started to knit my second scarf ( which i send to Akka hope she likes it) .. having mastered the art of knitting with 2 scarfs under my belt I am trying crochet now... the project is under construction and consideration ;) ...Well.. I have contributed to the world with 2 and a half scarfs so far lol... they are very pretty just like me ;) newayz I should find time and yarn to finish the half scarf I started...yeah i got it got it now you are thinking about sweaters and all those things auty and mummy makes lol ... huh its not meri cup of tea .. though i want to give a try.. but thn .. cant stay committed to a thing for so long as to finish it so.. dekhte hai... baboi.. now long term plans mei I can include a scarf store ... whr u'll find me and my creations lol !! as for now no personal requests accepted for knitting.

Makara Sankranti

The day on which the sun begins it journey northwards is referred to as Makara Sankranti. Sankramana means "to commence movement" and hence the name Makara Sankranti given to one of the largest, most auspicious, but varied festival in the Indian continent. In south India and especially the Tamil family, this festival is called Pongal. Pongal is symbolic of sharing the returns of the bounteous crops and business profits with the workforce and villagers. This festival for some is to give thanks to God. It is to show appreciation to those who assisted in the crops for their loyalty, commitment and selfless love. For many, this day also ushers in the New Year

Well I am at work now! no sankranti or Pongal for poor folks in US :( . My mom is Tamil and my dad is Telugu so we celebrate both Sankranti and Pongal!! I miss home so much on festivals. When I was a kid, festivals were always about good food, meeting relatives and lots of puja and aaraginpu . We had all my cousins bundle up at my home or my Mama's home and fool around as my mom and my pedamma cooked food!! Then in the evening we went to pedanana's home and ate the good "til gud" goodie made by my other pedamma... and visit few more if we had a mood else leave the external affairs to parents!! All I do now is google about the festival and try to learn what it is about lol...
I never thought even in the wildest of my dreams that I will miss the yummy pongal my mom used to make!! Lately to the surprise of my mom I like pongal ( I mean the delicacy) uggh i remember how many tantrums i used to put on to eat the very tasty pongal my mom used to make ... I dont like pepper in it I dont like cashews, yuk thrz coconut in this, lol . Now just bring it on with all the goodies Pongal has to be made with and I will gobble gobble. Being away from home filled some sense in me to appreciate efforts put on by mom. This time I am in India I'll make some pongal for my mom and dad ... lol say I'm the best beti ;)

Exercise daily
Buy nice clothes
Visit India
Blog regularly
Get a better job
Do some charity
Clean my work desk regularly
Be more organized
Do puja daily ( try to)
